Black Brighton Market is a place where Black People and People of Colour have the opportunity to sell their art, goods, services and perform to the general public. Creating equal opportunities and better profits within the BIPOC community.
What we’re all about…
Community
Creating a safe and intimate space where our artists have the room to meet, network and even collaborate with one another.
Experience
BBM is like no other market, our artists are specialised; understanding and mastering their craft in a way that they talk through each process from idea to fruition with absolute passion. Alongside our open mic and big headline acts, you will leave with your hands, head and heart full.
Creativity
One of Black Brighton Markets biggest passion and drive is creativity and allowing the space for our artists to hone their craft, spread their wings and turn their side-hustle into their main income.
Black Brighton Market
Black Brighton Market is an all day family-friendly market held on a weekend, it has it’s permanent residency at The Actors pub, where it spans across two rooms on the first floor. You will also find the market doing pop-ups at different venues and events. The day consists of different, specialised artists and makers selling their work and/or skill. Alongside a range of performances including a booked headline and open mic.
The market was monthly in 2023, but will now be more occasional going forward in 2024, holding events on specialised days and peak times in Brighton. We are working towards our next market is a pop-up in collaboration with Culture Connex for Brighton Fringe, at Ironworks Studio Brighton, on Sunday 2nd June. The market is currently self-funded with a small team working on a voluntary basis. Continue to learn more to read about the BBM team and the origin story.

Be a vendor at the Black Brighton Market!
By becoming a vendor with Black Brighton Market, you get to become a part of a community, one that will support and elevate you as an individual and a space in which you can network, collaborate and profit from your own business and creation. We are committed in treating each vendor individually, catering a single platform for all types of artists and performers.
The Community
The community is an online platform where business owners, artists and performers can showcase their work and/or shop as well as promote events and key dates. You do not have to have been a vendor at the market to be a part of The Community.
So why did we decided to start The Community? On a monthly basis BBM is contacted through email and social media, with requests of vendors, artists and business owners. By taking part in The Community, you can increase the opportunity brand awareness, sales both off and online and events, as well as opportunities to network and collaborate.
What our vendors and patrons are saying
“I felt very lucky to launch my handmade products at the Black Brighton Market – it had a strengthening community feel and all the items in the market were great quality with passionate stallholders. It meant a great deal to have the opportunity to participate and be supported in my business. Such an important thing for visibility of Black and Brown people in Brighton, as well as for enterprise. Jade is extremely worthy of any support to continue and expand her great work.“
“It was a beautiful event and amazing to be in a place where Black people in Brighton are able to network, connect and create an economic hub which is something that so many Black communities are missing especially in Brighton where we don’t have a geographically located community. This is what the revolution looks like.”
“I’ve loved being part of the Black Brighton Market and joining a family of fellow BIPOC creatives and makers in the city. Jade has started an important endeavour to carve out space for the ever growing and vibrant BIPOC community in Brighton and beyond, creating a wonderful opportunity to showcase our heritage and culture to all. As a stallholder, I’ve loved being able to share my business Epifhani with other textiles makers and learn from them, and be inspired to create more. Jade and her team have been fantastic organisers, as their transparency, enthusiasm and dedication to the project has helped push it forward, creating a strong community who want to see its success into the next few years!”
